Om Namah Shivaya
The five syllable (panchakshara) mantra of Shiva: na, mah, shi, va, ya. The words Namah Shivaya occur in the Rudram of the Taittiriya Samhita of the Yajurveda (4.5.8.1), and Om is placed before them in common use. It means a bow to the auspicious one. It is chanted on a mala, commonly 108 times, especially on Mondays, Pradosh and Maha Shivaratri.
This recording repeats the mantra many times, as in japa, so it is longer than one recitation.
Played from the artist's or label's own YouTube channel. Recordings often sing extra verses or a slightly different wording from the text shown here.
